My relationship with members

On each profile, you have the possibility to leave testimonials. These messages constitute, in a way, the guestbook of the attached member. to the profile. You can use them to show him your sympathy, express a comment on his photos... or simply leave him a trace of your passage on their profile.
The testimonials must in no case be used to dialogue or invite the person to you contact. Private messaging is at your disposal for this. Indeed, the public nature of the testimonies implies in fact the prohibition of this type of use. This will allow the moderation team to delete inappropriate testimonials without notice.

An email is sent to you as soon as a member sends you a private message. It is also the same when we send you a request friend or that a friend request you made has been accepted. By default, these automatic notifications are all active. You You can nevertheless deactivate or reactivate them by going to your personal space in the “Manage my email alerts” section.

If you do not receive this type of alert, first check the "spam" or "junk mail" folders of your email, that the message is not present there. If this is the case, we invite you to mark the email as “non-spam” or “non-junk”.
If you do not receive message receipt notifications, also check that automatic alerting is activated. For this, Go to your personal space in the “Manage my email alerts” section and check that the alert concerned is checked.

In this situation, several scenarios are possible... Your interlocutor was able to close his account before you took knowledge of his message. If a member unsubscribes, their messages are also deleted.
It is also possible that our team moderators have deleted the message (because it does not comply with the general conditions of use) or the fraudulent account that would have allowed it to be sent. Just like when unsubscribing, when a fraudulent profile is deleted, the messages that he previously transmitted are all erased.

Some people use dating sites for dishonest purposes, usually to extort money. Other individuals infantile people take great pleasure in deceiving honest members about their identity in order to be able to observe them on cam. The Carré Libertin does everything possible to monitor the registrations of suspicious members, however if you encounter this type of person, We strongly advise you to notify us so that we can take the necessary measures. Please make sure to provide us with their pseudonym and the detailed reason for your request.

It is very often possible to detect a fraudulent profile simply by carefully reading the message(s) it has sent you. These spam or scam messages are sent to the chain and present recurring characteristics:
- Scammers commonly give their email address in the first message they send, to better attract the most naive to a software private messaging service where they can converse outside of our surveillance.
- The messages are often confused, complex and at the same time futile, made of generalities, boring... and contain big mistakes spelling
- Paradoxically, dishonest individuals will very quickly talk to you about notions such as "sincerity", "seriousness" or "honesty"!
- They often present themselves as widowers and/or traveling on business.
- Scammers inevitably end up asking their interlocutors for money.

A pseudonym can also sometimes say a lot about the profile of the person contacting you:
- Be particularly wary of nicknames that are too innocent to be honest, such as "femmeserieuse" or "flower-sincere"
- Overly stylish nicknames with "4real", "4u" or "4love" at the end often indicate an English-speaking scammer profile located in Ghana or Nigeria
- Be careful of compound first names that sound "more French than French" like "yveslucien" or "marie-dominique"

During cam contact:
- Systematically ask your interlocutor, the first time, to perform a gesture of your choice. This will prove to you that no video artifice has been used to deceive you.
- Stop all contact with a person wishing to observe you on cam without this being reciprocal.

The above indications, although subjective, turn out to be quite effective. In general, do not give personal contact details to the first person who comes to you and exercise common sense and caution in relation to requests appearing to come from abroad: The Most of the scammers who are rampant on dating sites are located in West Africa (mainly Ivory Coast) and Russia in a lesser extent. In any case, if you have any doubts about a member of the site, stop any relationship and report it to us as quickly as possible so that we can control the profile in question.

Security, anonymity and Private Mode

Private Mode is an ephemeral messaging feature inspired by how Snapchat works. It turns a regular conversation into a confidential, time-limited exchange between two members. Once enabled by mutual consent, the messages exchanged automatically disappear after being read, or no later than 24 hours after sending if they have not been opened. This option has been designed for members who seek maximum discretion and want their exchanges to leave no lasting trace. Private Mode is therefore one of the cornerstones of the privacy offered by Carrelibertin, alongside pseudonym-based anonymity and HTTPS-encrypted connections.

To enable Private Mode, open the conversation with the member concerned and click the mask-shaped icon at the top of the messaging window. A request is immediately sent to your correspondent, who can accept or decline it. As long as the request has not been accepted, the conversation remains in classic mode and no message becomes ephemeral. Once both members have approved the activation, Private Mode becomes effective: all new messages exchanged become ephemeral. The request automatically expires after 24 hours without a response. Either member can deactivate Private Mode at any time, without justification, by clicking the same icon again.

Yes, messages exchanged in Private Mode are genuinely deleted from our servers. The rule is simple: an ephemeral message disappears as soon as it has been read by its recipient, or automatically after 24 hours if it remains unread. No copy is kept, neither in the inbox nor in the backups accessible from your profile. If you wish to keep a particular message, you can explicitly save it with one click: it then escapes automatic deletion and remains visible to both participants. This mechanism guarantees that your private exchanges do not accumulate without your consent and that no trace is left by default.

Private Mode strengthens your confidentiality, but it does not change the way you are identified on Carrelibertin. Your correspondent continues to see your pseudonym and your profile picture as you have set them up. Carrelibertin never exposes your real name, your email address, your IP address or your phone number to other members: this information remains strictly internal to our platform.

If you wish to increase your anonymity, we recommend:
  • using a neutral pseudonym, unrelated to your public accounts;
  • blurring or hiding your profile picture;
  • never sharing personal contact details in your messages, even in Private Mode.
Private Mode is designed to erase the content of exchanges, not to make profiles anonymous: these two protections are complementary.

Yes, Private Mode supports ephemeral media. You can record an audio message of up to 30 seconds or a short video of up to 10 seconds, directly from the messaging interface, without any third-party app. These media are also subject to the ephemeral rules: they disappear after viewing and are definitively deleted no later than 24 hours after sending. Only one replay is allowed by default, after which the file is purged from our servers. This feature has been designed to allow you to share intimate moments without them accumulating in your inbox or being retrievable later. As with text messages, you can choose to explicitly save a media file if you wish to keep it on both sides.

Private Mode is included in the Carrelibertin experience and does not require any additional specific subscription. It is simply enabled between two members by mutual consent, as many times as you wish. You can use it with several correspondents in parallel, each conversation being independent. No time limit is imposed on a Private Mode session: only the automatic disappearance of ephemeral messages is guaranteed. Note that the options required for standard private messaging (sending photo attachments, long videos, etc.) remain subject to the same access conditions as on the rest of the site.

Confidentiality is one of our fundamental commitments. Carrelibertin combines several layers of protection:
  • HTTPS-encrypted connections across the entire site;
  • anonymity preserved by the exclusive use of pseudonyms;
  • automatic protection of your email address and personal contact details, which are never visible to other members;
  • active moderation against fraudulent profiles and abusive behaviour.
In addition to these protections, optional features can be enabled according to your needs: Private Mode to make your conversations ephemeral, profile masking to make you invisible in certain areas, and the ability to block or report any unwanted member. We never resell your data, and you retain full control at any time over the deletion of your account and all associated information.
